Study Before Investing

With the introduction of such websites as eTrade and ScotTrade, it has become commonplace for people to invest on their own, making their own decisions. The good thing about this is that an investor can make money without sharing it with a broker; the bad thing about this is that these investors often go broke. One of the big mistakes a lot of people make is that they make big investing decisions without doing any big research first. As with anything that you plan to take seriously, research is important; and as this is dealing with your financial future, research is even more important!
One of the first things for you to recognize is that investing is not as easy as picking a stock that is doing well and investing. After all, this would require no skill at all, and anyone could make a fortune through investing if it were that easy. Instead, the key is systematic research; it is important to keep in mind that the fluctuations of the stock market are largely dependent upon the fact that people are reactionary. Most solo investors tend to invest in stocks when they are near their peak and sell when they are near the bottom, due to their reactionary nature. There are many resources that can help you to be a wise investor instead of reacting to everything the market does. Of course, the best place to go for consistent investing advice and information is the “Wall Street Journal,” but you should look other places as well. You can learn a lot that will be hugely beneficial to your future investments by subscribing to such magazines as “Money” and “Fortune”; you also should take the time to look at some of the great investment books out there, such as Benjamin Graham’s “The Intelligent Investor” and Warren Buffett’s “The Essays of Warren Buffett.” You can also take the opportunity to wear The Glasses of Warren Buffett and see the world of investing the way he sees it! After you pick a few resources that seem right for you – making sure that these resources are well-respected and will lead you in the right direction – you will be ready to study, and study, and study!Related Blogs
